Jekk xi ħadd irid jiġi warajja, għandu jiċħad lilu nnifsu - Studju Bibbliku Mt 16, 21-27 - It-Tnejn u Għoxrin Ħadd matul is-Sena


F’dak iż-żmien, Ġesù beda juri lid-dixxipli tiegħu li kien meħtieġ għalih li jmur Ġerusalemm, isofri ħafna mix-xjuħ u l-qassisin il-kbar u l-kittieba, joqtluh, u fit-tielet jum iqum.

Pietru ġibdu lejh u beda jlumu u jgħidlu: “Allaħares, Mulej! Ma jkun qatt li dan jgħaddi minn għalik!”. Iżda Ġesù dar u qal lil Pietru: “Itlaq minn quddiemi, ja xitan! Int tfixkil għalija, għax m’intix tqis il-ħwejjeġ ta’ Alla, imma qiegħed taħsibha ta’ bniedem li int!”.

Imbagħad qal lid-dixxipli tiegħu: “Jekk xi ħadd irid jiġi warajja, għandu jiċħad lilu nnifsu, jerfa’ salibu, u jimxi warajja. Għax min irid isalva ħajtu, jitlifha, imma min jitlef ħajtu għall-imħabba tiegħi, isibha. Għax xi jkun jiswielu l-bniedem jekk jikseb id-dinja kollha u mbagħad jitlef ħajtu? Jew xi prezz se jagħti l-bniedem biex isalva ħajtu? Għax Bin il-bniedem għandu jiġi fil-glorja ta’ Missieru flimkien ma’ l-anġli tiegħu, u mbagħad irodd lil kull wieħed skond ma wieħed ikun għamel”.



“…meħtieġ li mmur Ġerusalem.”  Ġesu’ kien jaf x’kien lest għalih Ġerusalem. Din  kienet  il-belt kapitali tal-poter.  Kulħadd kellu ambizzjoni li jikseb ftit jew wisq poter. Ġesu’ ried imur hemm biex ineħħi dil-mentalita’ kompetittiva u jipproponi dinja ġdida fejn jirrenjaw l-imħabba u s-servizz għall-oħrajn. 

Ġesu’ ħabb l-Iskribi, l-Fariżej u l-qassisin il-kbar, avolja dawn se jkunu responsabbli għall-mewt tiegħu.  Habbhom u xtaq jibdlilhom qalbhom billi jurihom kemm ikun aħjar għal kull bniedem li jgħix  kif qed jgħid Hu.  Għalhekk “kien meħtieġ” li, biex jaqdi l-missjoni Tiegħu, idawwar u jdawwal in-nies tal-poter.

L-anzjani tal-poplu, il-qassisin u l-Iskribi, li kienu jiffurmaw is-Sinedriju, ser jopponu lil Ġesu’.  L-anzjani kienu jħarsu l-idea antika tal-bniedem ġust, imbierek minn Alla meta jħares it-tradizzjonijiet tagħhom. Il-bniedem li rnexxa għalihom kien dak li jilħaq fl-għoli biex jiġi servut. Anki jekk juża’ l-vjolenza, qisu bhima selvaġġa, biex jilħaq l-iskop tiegħu. 

Ġesu’ jippreżenta ruħu mhux bħala bhima imma bħala ħaruf, biex juri lill-anzjani li l-imġieba tagħhom hija diżumana. Il-qassisin kienu jħarsu r-reliġjon antika fejn, biex tieħu xi ħaġa minn għand Alla, trid toffrilu sagrifiċċju, inċens, eċċ.  Dan rapport kummerċjali.  Ġesu’ ser jiċħad din ir-reliġjon u jippreżenta lil Alla bħala Missier li jħobb ‘l uliedu bla ma jistenna xejn lura minnhom. 

Li ngħin lill-proxxmu u li nagħmel lil xi ħadd ferħan hu l-unika duħħan tas-sagrifiċċju jew inċens li jiggosta Alla.  L-Iskribi kkapparraw il-kelma t’Alla, u ma kienu jħallu lil ħadd jinterpretawha ħliefhom. Insew li Alla ġie ppreżentat bħala Mħabba, Missier u Għarus.  Minn flok, kienu jpinġu lil Alla bħala mħallef sever li jobgħod lill-midinbin.

Ġesu’ se jikklaxxja ma’ dawn ukoll, għax se juri li Alla jħobb lil min tbiegħed minnu, iridhom ferħanin, u jrid ireġġagħhom lura għandu.  Ġesu’ se jikkonfronta s-Sinedriju bl-imħabba, forsi jindunaw xi qlub ta’ lpup għandhom meta jagħmlu kuntrast mal-Ħaruf.

“….isofri ħafna.. joqtluh, u fit-tielet jum iqum.”  Din kienet kelma misterjuża.  Ġesu’ jitlob biss fiduċja u fidi fil-proposta Tiegħu ta’ dinja ġdida, bniedem ġdid, ta’ ħajja mogħtija mill-bniedem li rnexxa tassew. 

Pietru, għan-nom ta’ sħabu, ilumu: “Ma jkun qatt li dan jgħaddi mingħalik.”  Pietru ġibdu lejh biex id-dixxipli l-oħra ma jisimgħuhx. “Ilumu” proprjament “Iċanfru” – hu l-istess verb użat meta Ġesu’ keċċa xi xitan. Pietru jċanfar lil Ġesu’: “X’mort tgħid? Kif tista’ titkellem fuq Alla li mhux se jipproteġi bniedem ġust bħalek?” Għal Pietru, Ġesu’ qed jgħid kliem kontra l-katekiżmu li kien tgħallem f’żogħżitu.

Kien sema’ dawn il-passaġġi mill-Iskrittura: “Dan ir-re, bin David, isaltan minn baħar sa baħar, mix-xmara Ewfrati sa truf l-art.  L-għedewwa tiegħu jieklu r-ramel. Is-slaten kollha jiġu jqimuh f’riġlejh” (Salm 72).  “Iġmla minn kullimkien iġibulu deheb u nċens u jipproklamaw il-glorja tal-Mulej” (Isaija). U issa Ġesu’ qed jgħid li se jgħelbuh il-qawwiet ta’ Ġerusalem?

Ġesu’ jdur biex jisimgħuh id-dixxipli kollha: “Itlaq minn quddiemi” jew aħjar “Itlaq warajja, u imxi il-mixja Tiegħi, biex tibni rapport sewwa ma’ Alla.  

Tkunx ‘Satana’, i.e. tinterpretax l-iskrittura skond il-kriterji tal-bnedmin. Skond dawn, tkun kbir meta tiddomina. Skond il-kriterji t’Alla tkun kbir meta tmur fl-aħħar post u tirregala ħajtek bħala servizz.” Ftit ilu kien għadu kif qallu “blata” għall-bini tat-Tempju l-Ġdid.  Issa jsejjaħlu “skandlu”, i.e. ġebla f’nofs it-triq li tfixkel il-progress tal-mixja Tiegħu.

Ġesu’ jkompli jiċċara l-missjoni Tiegħu: “Jekk xi ħadd irid jiġi warajja, għandu jiċħad lilu nnifsu.” Dal-kliem jgħodd għalina wkoll.  Jekk inkomplu naħsbuha bħal Pietru, inkunu fis-servizz tax-xitan.  Imma, jekk minn rajna, bil-liberta’ kollha, naċċettaw it-tagħlim kollu ta’ Ġesu’ kif inhu, mingħajr tgħawwiġ (mhux nimmodifikawh biex jakkomoda lilna kif jaqblilna), irridu niċħdu lilna nfusna.

L-eġoiżmu hu ankrat fil-qalb tal-bniedem.  L-egoist moħħu dejjem biex jaħseb l-ewwel għalih innifsu u jpoġġi lilu nnifsu fiċ-ċentru tal-attenzjoni biex jikseb vantaġġ fuq l-oħrajn.  Illum il-kompetizzjoni hija aċċettata bħala mod ta’ tkabbir tal-produzzjoni.  Din aktarx toħloq konflitti. Il-bniedem ma ġiex ipprogrammat biex ikun egoist. Ħafna drabi jistħi u jaħbi xi att ta’ egoiżmu li jkun għamel.

Ġesu’ jsaħħaħ din l-ideja bil-proposta tal-bniedem li jirnexxi tassew meta jinsa lilu nnifsu u jaħseb l-ewwel dejjem kif se jgħin u jferraħ lill-proxxmu.  Xi wħud jaħsbu li b’hekk jitilfu ħajjithom.  Ġesu’ jassigurahom li dan hu l-unika mod biex isibuha, jikkonservawha u jattwawha.

“…jerfa’ salibu..” dan ma jfissirx li nistaportu bil-paċenzja l-inkwiet li jinqala’ fil-ħajja, imma li naċċettaw bil-ferħ li nimxu pass pass ma’ Ġesu’ li ddeċieda li jirregala ħajtu bħala seftur, ilsir. Ġesu’ miss il-qiegħ nett meta ssallab bħal seftur jew ilsir.  Id-dixxiplu irid ikun seftur/ilsir  tal-oħrajn.  Dan hu kuntrarju tal-idejal tad-dinja, imma Ġesu’ jinsisti li dan hu l-uniku mod biex wieħed jgħix ħajja awtentika u ġenwina.

“….. imxi warajja…” Min jimxi wara xi ħadd irid isammar għajnejh fuqu biex jara fejn sejjer. Min jimxi wara Ġesu’ irid ikun jaf x’inhuma l-ħsibijiet Tiegħu.  Kull xewqa li jkollu d-dixxiplu jrid jara  taqbilx max-xewqat ta’ Ġesu’. 

“Għax min irid isalva ħajtu jitlifha; imma min jitlef ħajtu għall-imħabba tiegħi, isibha. Għax x’ikun jiswielu l-bniedem jekk jikseb id-dinja kollha u mbagħad jitlef ħajtu? Jew xi prezz se jagħti l-bniedem biex jerġa’ jikseb ħajtu?”  F’salm 49 insibu: “….l-iblah u l-behlieni lkoll jintemmu, u lil ta’ wrajhom iħallu ġidhom….. Din xortih min jittama fih innifsu.”  Ġesu’ llum ifakkarni li dil-ħajja xi darba se tasal għat-tmiem. Hu jixtieq bil-qawwa kollha li meta nħares lura nkun nista’ ngħid: “Ħajti ma ħlejtiex iżda għamilt ħilti biex inħobb u nservi.”  Dan hu l-uniku prezz li se nagħti biex nikseb lura ħajti.  Fit-tmiem ta’ ħajti, mhux x’jaħsbu n-nies fuq kemm rekkint ġid u semmew bliet u toroq għalija jgħodd (bħat-30 Cesarea u 20 Alessandria li hawn fid-dinja), imma x’jaħseb fuqi Alla.

Embracing Diversity and Empowering Growth: Luke Micallef's Inspiring Journey with The Call Ministries



Hey everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to share something really special with you all. Being a part of The Call Ministries has been an incredible journey for me, and I just can't help but share how much it has meant to me.

One of the things that has touched my heart the most is how inclusive our youth group is. No matter who you are or what challenges you might be facing, everyone is welcomed with open arms. It's not something you find everywhere, and it's made me feel like I truly belong.

The Call Ministries has been a place where I've grown not only spiritually but also as a person. Our Bible study sessions have helped me understand the scriptures better, and that's been a guiding light in my life. But it's not just about faith – it's about life skills too. The group has helped me understand the importance of life skills that we can use every day. It's like a holistic approach to growing up and becoming the best version of ourselves.

One role that I'm really proud of is being the treasurer of our organization. It's been an amazing opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way and learn important skills along the way.

And you know what? Learning to work in a team with people who come from all walks of life has been one of the most amazing things. The group has given me the chance to collaborate with others who have different perspectives and dynamics. It's been a real learning experience, and I feel like it's prepared me for the future in ways I never expected.

I just wanted to share this with all of you because The Call Ministries is like a second family to me. The support, the growth, and the love that I've found here are truly one of a kind. I'm so grateful to be a part of this community, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes all of us.

Inti Pietru: jiena nagħtik l-imfietaħ tas-Saltna tas-Smewwiet - Studju Bibbliku Mt 16, 13-20 - Wieħed u Għoxrin Ħadd taż-Żmien ta’ Matul is-Sena

 


F’dak iż-żmien, meta wasal fl-inħawi ta’ Ċesarija ta’ Filippu, Ġesù staqsa lid-dixxipli tiegħu u qalilhom: “Min jgħidu n-nies li hu Bin il-bniedem?”. U huma weġbuh: “Xi wħud, Ġwanni l-Battista; oħrajn, Elija; u oħrajn, Ġeremija jew wieħed mill-profeti”.


“Imma intom min tgħidu li jien?”, staqsiehom. U qabeż Xmun Pietru u qallu: “Inti l-Messija, Bin Alla l-ħaj”. U Ġesù wieġbu u qallu: “Hieni int, Xmun bin Ġona, għax mhux bniedem tad-demm u l-laħam uriek dan, imma Missieri li hu fis-smewwiet. U jiena ngħidlek: Inti Pietru, u fuq din il-blata jiena nibni l-Knisja tiegħi, u s-setgħat tal-infern ma jegħlbuhiex. Jiena nagħtik l-imfietaħ tas-Saltna tas-Smewwiet, u kull ma torbot fuq l-art ikun marbut fis-smewwiet, u kull ma tħoll fuq l-art ikun maħlul fis-smewwiet”.

Imbagħad lid-dixxipli tiegħu wissiehom biex ma jitkellmu ma’ ħadd fuq li huwa l-Messija.

Il-Kelma tal-Mulej




Fl-inħawi ta’ Ċesarea ta’ Filippu wieħed kien isib art fertili ħafna. Il-merħliet kienu jirgħu fuq ħaxix bnin, u b’hekk jirrendu prodotti mill-aqwa.  Ir-raġuni kienet li mill-muntanja Ħermon insibu tlett għejjun ta’ ilma li wara ftit kienu jiltaqgħu biex jiffurmaw ix-xmara Ġordan. 

In-nies kienu joffru l-prodotti tagħhom lill-allat tan-Natura f’żewġ tempji li kien hemm fil-belt ta’ Ċesarea, kemm bħala radd il-ħajr u kemm biex l-allat ikomplu  jkattru l-ġid fost dak il-poplu.  Dil-belt kien bniha bħala belt kapitali Filippu, iben Erodi.  Biex jaġevola r-Rumani, semmiegħa Ċesarea ta’ Filippu, mhux Filippu biss.

Ġesu’ jsaqsi lid-dixxipli Tiegħu:  “In-nies min jgħidu li hu Bin il-Bniedem?” - It-termini  “bin il-Bniedem” bil-Lhudi kienet tfisser sempliċement “bniedem”. Ġesu’ ppreżenta ruħu bħala bniedem, imma bniedem speċjali – il-bniedem li rnexxa fil-veru sens tal-kelma. 

F’dawn l-inħawi, in-nies kienu jqisu lil Filippu bħala l-bniedem li rnexxa. 
Kellu żewġ  palazzi, ġid u poter. L-allat kienu qed ibirkulu l-art u l-merħliet b’abbundanza.  Imma dawn biżżejjed biex jagħmlu wieħed “bniedem li rnexxa tassew”?

Id-dixxipli kellhom dan kollu quddiem għajnejhom. Għalissa jirrispondu: “Ġwanni l-Battista, Elija, Ġeremija jew xi profeta.” Ġwanni kien rett u ta’ sinsla. Dak li hu ħażin kien jgħidlu ħażin, jagħmlu min jagħmlu. Elija kien jisħaq fuq Alla wieħed u jikkundanna l-idoli.  Ġeremija kien jgħid lin-nies biex ma jirriduċux ir-reliġjon għal sempliċi riti biss. Kien     hemm bżonn il-fidi.  Mhux ta’ b’xejn li n-nies xebbħu lil Ġesu’ ma’ dawn il-profeti.

Ġesu’ jagħmel pass ieħor: “Imma intom, min tgħidu li jien? Jien x’jien għalikom?  Qed tifhmu x’qed nipproponi għall-bnedmin? Dinja ġdida b’ħajja ġdida fejn tirrenja l-imħabba bla limiti u bla kundizzjoni? Jien kemm niswa f’ħajjitkom?” 

“Int il-Messija, Bin Alla l-ħaj.” Pietru wieġeb tajjeb għalkemm żgur kien għadu marbut mal-idejat ta’ Messija  kif kien sema’ f’żogħżitu mir-Rabbini, li l-Messija se jkun qawwi u kbir skond il-kriterji ta’ did-dinja.  Almenu fehem li Ġesu’ kien il-Messija. 

Għalhekk Ġesu’ se jispjega xi tfisser  tkun dixxiplu tal-Messija: “Hieni int, Xmun bin Ġona, għax mhux bniedem tad-demm u l-laħam uriek dan, imma Missieri li Hu fis-smewwiet. U jien ngħidlek: ‘Int Pietru, u fuq din il-blata jien nibni l-Knisja Tiegħi u s-setgħat tal-infern ma jegħelbuhiex. Jien nagħtik l-imfietaħ tas-Saltna tas-Smewwiet, u kull ma torbot fuq l-art ikun marbut fis-smewwiet, u kull ma tħoll  fuq l-art ikun marbut fis-smewwiet.’”

Ġesu’ jifraħ li ġie rrivelat lil Pietru li Ġesu’ hu il-Kristu, il-Messija. Ġesu’ sejjaħ lil Xmun Pietru “blata” li fuqha se jibni l-Knisja Tiegħu.  Irridu niftakru li l-ewwel ġebla, il-ġebla tax-xewka (foundation stone) hija Kristu u l-Fidi fi Kristu.

Pietru se jkun il-ġebla li se titqiegħed l-ewwel qabel l-oħrajn kollha fuq dil-ġebla tax-xewka. San Pietru lin-neofiti li għadhom kemm tgħammdu jiktbilhom: “Intom ġebel ħaj magħqudin  mal-Ħaġra Prezzjuża magħżula minn Alla fl-Għid.”

Wara d-diskors tal-muntanja, Ġesu’ jurina għażla fuqhiex se nibnu ħajjitna: fuq ir-ramel jew fuq il-blat? Fil-Bibbja, il-blata hija Alla, Kristu u l-Fidi fi Kristu. Pietru ma tax każ x’qalu l-bnedmin l-oħra fuq Ġesu’, imma sema’ leħen il-Missier jirrivelalu li l-Messija awtentiku wasal.  Pietru se jagħti bidu għall-bini tal-Komunita. 

“.. il-bibien tal-infern ma jegħelbuhiex.” Il-bibien huma sinjal ta’ difiża mhux ta’ attakk. In-nies kienu jemmnu li min jidħol f’dawn il-bibien ma kienx jerġa’ joħroġ.  B’hekk il-bibien joħorġu rebbieħa fuq il-ħajja u tirrenja biss il-mewt.  Dana sakemm daħal Kristu u bil-Qawmien Tiegħu sfronda (spalanca) dawn il-bibien darba għal dejjem. 

F’pittura famuża, f’riġlejn l-Irxoxt jidhru bibien u ċaċċis imfarrka.  Illum ukoll inqisu li ħadd ma jista’ għall-bibien tal-fabbriki tal-armi, tal-korruzzjoni, tal-poter, tal-ambizzjoni, eċċ.  Ġesu’ qed iwegħidna li bibien bħal dawn mhux se jifilħu jirreżitu meta l-Insara se joktru u jxerrdu l-messaġġ ta’ Kristu tal-imħabba.  L-istess jiġri lill-bibien tal-qlub il-midinbin.  Il-qawwa tar-riħ tal-Ispirtu s-Santu se jisfronda dawn il-bibien u jeħlishom mill-forzi tal-ħażen.  L-ebda dixxiplu m’għandu jaqta’ qalbu fil-missjoni tiegħu, meta għandu wiegħda bħal din minn Ġesu’ Kristu nnifsu.

“Jien nagħtik l-imfietaħ tas-Saltna tas-Smewwiet.”  Min ikollu l-imfietaħ ta’ dar, ikollu s-setgħa lil min iħalli jidħol jew le.  L-imfietaħ lil Pietru ma kinux tal-Ġenna imma tas-Saltna tas-Smewwiet li tibda f’dil-ħajja u tkompli fl-oħra.  Min jaċċetta din il-proposta jkun jista’ jidħol u jifforma parti mill-Komunita’. 

Ir-Rabbini kien mingħalihom li kellhom l-imfietaħ tat-Torah. Ħadd ma seta’ jinterpreta l-liġi mingħajr il-permess tagħhom, għax kienu konvinti li huma biss kellhom l-interpretazzjoni ġusta.  Ġesu’ kien iebes magħhom meta ċanfarhom: “Gwaj għalikom, dutturi tal-liġi, għax sraqtu l-imfietaħ tal-għarfien, u la dħaltu intom u l-anqas ħallejtu lil min jidħol, għax ħbejtu min-nies ir-rieda u l-wiċċ awtentiku ta’ Alla.  B’hekk sakkartu  l-bieb tas-salvazzjoni għan-nies.” 

Issa Ġesu’ qed jgħid li Pietru se jkollu l-imfietaħ (bil-Lhudi mafteja) tas-saltna, biex jiftaħ dawn il-bibien imsakkra u jidħol permezz tal-fidi fi Kristu li għadu kif stqarr.  Kull min jemmen bħal Pietru jista’ jidħol f’dis-Saltna li, kif għidna, tibda minn issa. 

“Kull ma torbot fuq l-art..”  Ir-Rabbini kienu jiddeċiedu huma x’inhu tajjeb u ħażin skond kif kienu jifhmu l-liġi huma.  Issa Ġesu’ qed jistqarr li dan se jkun id-dover mhux biss ta’ Pietru u d-dixxipli, imma tal-membri kollha tal-komunita’ Nisranija.  L-ewwel xogħol hu li nindikaw min u x’inhu il-veru Messija, dak awtentiku, u nikxfu l-maskri ta’ xi messija falz.  It-tieni, ngħinu lill-proxxmu jiddixxerni bejn għażliet tajbin u oħrajn ħżiena, jiġifieri, x’iwassal għall-mewt u x’iwassal għall-ħajja.  Dan nagħmluh dejjem fid-dawl tal-Vanġelu.

Mara, il-fidi tiegħek kbira - Studju Bibbliku Mt 15, 21-28 - L-Għoxrin Ħadd taż-Żmien ta’ Matul is-Sena

 


F’dak iż-żmien, Ġesù telaq lejn Tir u Sidon. U ħarġet waħda mara Kangħanija minn dawk l-inħawi, u qabdet tgħajjat u tgħid: “Ħenn għalija, Mulej, Bin David; binti għandha fiha xitan, u magħdura ħafna!”. Iżda hu ma weġibhiex kelma. Resqu lejh id-dixxipli tiegħu, jitolbuh u jgħidulu: “Eħles minnha, għax ġejja tgħajjat warajna”. Imma hu qalilhom: “Ma ġejtx mibgħut ħlief għan-nagħaġ li ntilfu mid-dar ta’ Iżrael”.

Iżda hi resqet, inxteħtet quddiemu u qaltlu: “Għinni Mulej!”. Hu weġibha: “Mhux sewwa tieħu l-ħobż tal-ulied u tixħtu lill-ġriewi”. “Hekk hu, Mulej – qaltlu – iżda l-ġriewi wkoll jieklu l-frak li jaqa’ minn fuq il-mejda ta’ sidienhom!”. Imbagħad wieġeb Ġesù u qalilha: “Mara, il-fidi tiegħek kbira! Ħa jsirlek kif tixtieq”. U minn dak il-ħin stess bintha fieqet.

Il-Kelma tal-Mulej



Vanġelu (Mt 15, 21-28): Ġesu’ jmur mad-dixxipli Tiegħu f’art pagana. Dan jagħmlu għax kien għadu kif kellu argument mal-Iskribi u l-Fariżej.  Dawn ilmentaw għax Ġesu’ kien iħalli l-Appostli ma josservawx it-tradizzjonijiet tagħhom.  Ġesu’ jgħajjarhom ipokriti, għax fil-waqt li jintilfu fl-irqaqat u r-regoli li vvintaw huma, jittraskuraw il-Kmandamenti.

Per eżempju, kien obbligu li wieħed jieħu ħsieb il-ġenituri tiegħu.  Dawn ivvintaw kelma: korban, li tfisser offerta qaddisa. Għalihom dil-offerta kienet teħlishom mill-obbligu lejn il-ġenituri. Wara dan l-argument jaħraq, l-Iskribi u l-Fariżej telqu.

L-Appostli ġibdu l-attenzjoni ta’ Ġesu’ li dawn skandalizzaw ruħhom. Ġesu’ jċanfar lill-Appostli għall-moħħ magħluq li għandhom. Per eżempju, kienu għadhom bit-tagħlim antik li s-salvazzjoni hija biss għal-Lhud. Ir-regoli tal-Fariżej kienu qed itaqqlu u jfixklu r-relazzjoni tajba li wieħed għandu jkollu mal-Missier Etern.  “Mhux dak li jidħol fil-bniedem iniġġsu, imma dak li joħroġ mill-qalb tal-bniedem: malafama, adulterju, impurita, gideb, eċċ.” 

Ġesu’ telaq lejn l-inħawi ta’ Tir u Sidon. Proprjament mhux “telaq” imma “ħareġ”, qisu ma felaħx aktar b’dil-mentalita’ magħluqa tal-Lhud.  Bħal meta l-Lhud kienu lsiera fl-Eġittu, u “ħarġu” minn hemm għall-spazju aktar miftuħ u liberu.

Ġesu’ wkoll ħa t-tagħlim tar-Rabbini f’żogħżitu. Issa dat-tagħlim ħassu qed joħonqu, u bħal donnu kellu bżonn ifittex ftit spazju aktar wiesgħa, liberu u ‘l bogħod mill-Lhud.

Hawn jiltaqa’ ma’ mara Kangħanija li ma waqfitx tgħajjat: “Ħenn għalija, Mulej, Bin David. Binti għandha fiha xitan u magħdura ħafna.” Dil-mara tirrappreżenta lill-komunita’ pagana, dik il-parti tal-umanita’ li kienet għada ma ltaqgħetx ma’ Kristu. 

It-tifla tagħha kienet taħt il-ħakma tax-xitan li kien qed jisirqilha l-umanita’ tagħha, u b’hekk ma setgħetx tkompli fil-mixja tagħha lejn il-ħajja.  Kieku baqgħet hekk, għandu mnejn kien ikollha t-tfal li jaqgħu taħt l-istess għawġ.

Għall-ewwel Ġesu’ ma jgħid xejn. Qisu qed jgħid bejnu u bejn ruħu: “Jien ġejt fid-dinja l-ewwel għal-Lhud.” Id-dixxipli jitolbu ‘l Ġesu’ jkeċċiha ‘l hemm biex jeħilsu minnha għax dejqithom tgħajjat.  Id-dixxipli kienu għadhom ma fehmux li anki l-pagani għandhom l-għatx għall-Kelma ta’ Kristu.

Xorta waħda għalissa Ġesu’ jgħidilha: “Ma ġejtx mibgħut ħlief għan-ngħaġ li ntilfu mid-dar ta’ Israel.” Hi nxteħtet f’riġlejh u talbitu bil-ħniena: “Għinni, Mulej!”  Hija l-karba tal-poplu pagan li għandu bżonn jisma’ l-Kelma tal-Messija.  Il-mara qalbha bħal donnu ħebritha li dil-Kelma m’hijiex biss għall-poplu Lhudi.  L-umanita’ pagana bil-ħajja tagħhom ta’ gwerer, vjolenza, skjavitu, eċċ kienet maħkuma mix-xitan.  Dil-mara fehmet li, biex ikeċċu dax-xitan minn fosthom, kellhom bżonn il-Kelma ta’ Ġesu’ ta’ Nazaret. 

Ġesu’ jwieġeb: “Mhux sew tieħu l-ħobż tal-ulied u tixtħu lill-ġriewi.” Dan kien kliem iebes għax il-Lhud kienu jqisu lilhom infushom bħala l-ulied leġittimi (ta’ Abraham) u l-pagani bħala l-klieb tal-familja. Il-ħobż kien għall-ulied biss.  Niftakru li hawn il-ħobż ifisser il-Kelma t’Alla li twassal għas-salvazzjoni.

Hawn min jaħseb li Ġesu’ ma fejjaqx it-tifla mill-ewwel biex jissottometti lil ommha għal prova. Fil-fatt Ġesu’ kien qed iżomm mal-programm Tiegħu li jwassal il-kelma Tiegħu lill-Lhud.  Il-pagani kien se jasal għalihom aktar tard jekk mhux iħallihom f’idejn l-Appostli wara Pentekoste.

Iżda dil-mara taħsdu b’dan il-kliem: “Iżda l-ġriewi wkoll jieklu l-frak li jaqa’ minn fuq il-mejda ta’ sidienhom.  Farka waħda mill-Kelma Tiegħek hi biżżejjed biex tfejjaq il-paganiżmu tagħna u tkeċċilna x-xitan minn ġo nofsna.”  Ġesu’ baqa’ meraviljat, bħal meta n-nies ta’ Nazaret ma ridux jafu bih, jew meta fejjaq il-lavrant taċ-ċenturjun. Forsi wkoll ftakar meta kien qal: “Kieku kellkom fidi mqar daqs żerriegħa tal-mustarda….”  “Mara, il-fidi tiegħek kbira.  Ħa jsirlek kif tixtieq.”

Ġesu’ ma wettaq l-ebda eżorċismu.  Farka fidi fiH u fil-qawwa tal-Kelma Tiegħu kienet biżżejjed biex tkeċċi x-xitan minn bint dik il-mara.  Anki fid-dinja pagana tal-lum, fejn hemm għatx kbir għall-Kelma t’Alla,  farka fidi hi biżżejjed biex jixxejnu l-isforzi tal-egoiżmu, vjolenza, poter, eċċ b’mod straordinarju.

Mhux ta’ b’xejn ħafna jagħmlu minn kollox biex joħonqu l-vuċijiet tal-Knisja, il-Papa u l-Isqfijiet.  Dawn xorta waħda jkomplu jxandru l-Kelma t’Alla akkost ta’ kritika ħarxa, akkużi ta’ ndħil politiku, eċċ., għax għandu mnejn li din il-kritika u dawn l-akkużi m’huma xejn ħlief għajta għall-għajnuna.

“Ġesu’ mexa fuq il-baħar mhux biex jagħmel xi show.  Il-baħar u l-qiegħ tiegħu kienu simbolu tal-ħażen u sors ta’ twerwir.  Ġesu’ mexa fuq dawn biex jgħaffiġhom, jikkalpestahom u jeqridhom għalina”

Introduction:

The Ascension of Mary is a significant event in Christian tradition that holds profound spiritual meaning for believers around the world. This extraordinary event marks the culmination of Mary's earthly life and her transition into the heavenly realms. In this blog post, we will delve into the biblical accounts of Mary's ascension, explore its theological significance, and reflect on the lessons it imparts to our own faith journeys.

The Biblical Accounts of Mary's Ascension:

The New Testament does not explicitly detail the ascension of Mary in the same manner as it does for Jesus. However, early Christian writings and traditions offer insights into this sacred event. Among these, the "Dormition of Mary" and other apocryphal texts depict Mary's departure from Earth and her assumption into Heaven. These accounts emphasize the awe-inspiring nature of Mary's transition from mortality to eternal life.

The Theological Significance:

The Ascension of Mary holds theological importance that resonates with various aspects of Christian belief:

a. Imitating Christ: Mary's ascension parallels Jesus' ascension, highlighting her close connection to her Son and her role as a model disciple.

b. Assumption of the Faithful: Mary's assumption into Heaven foreshadows the ultimate destiny of all believers, affirming the hope of resurrection and eternal life.

c. Intercessor and Advocate: The belief in Mary's continued presence and intercession reinforces her role as a compassionate advocate for humanity.

Lessons for Our Faith Journeys:

The Ascension of Mary offers several valuable lessons for our own spiritual growth:

a. Obedience and Surrender: Mary's unwavering obedience to God's will and her complete surrender serve as a model for us to align our lives with God's purpose.

b. Trust in God's Plan: Just as Mary trusted in God's plan for her life, we are reminded to place our trust in God's providence, even in times of uncertainty.

c. Eternal Hope: Mary's assumption reminds us of the eternal hope we have in Christ, motivating us to live with a heavenly perspective.

d. Holiness and Purity: Mary's purity of heart and devotion inspire us to pursue holiness and deepen our relationship with God.

On 1st November 1950, Pope Pius XII proclaimed this truth of the faith (Dogma), following a lengthy tradition of faith and history within the Catholic Church. The Ascension of Mary stands as a testament to the profound love of God and the transformative power of faith.  As we reflect on Mary's journey from Earth to Heaven, we are invited to contemplate our own spiritual path and the divine invitation to draw nearer to God. Unveiling the Legacy of St. Helena: Discovering the True Cross and the Empress's Sacred Pilgrimage



St. Helena, also known as Helena of Constantinople, was the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. She is revered as a Christian saint for her pious deeds and contributions to the early Christian church. The story of her discovery of the True Cross of Jesus Christ is a significant part of her legacy.

Born around the year 250, Helena was likely of humble origins. She married the future Roman Emperor Constantius Chlorus, and they had a son named Constantine, who would later become a key figure in Roman history and the Christianization of the Roman Empire.

After Constantine's rise to power, he issued the Edict of Milan in 313, which granted religious tolerance to Christians and effectively ended their persecution. This marked a turning point for the Christian community, and Helena's influence on Constantine played a role in this development.

Helena's most renowned accomplishment is her pilgrimage to the Holy Land. In her later years, during the early 4th century, she embarked on a journey to Jerusalem to visit the sacred sites associated with Jesus' life. It was during this pilgrimage that the story of her discovery of the True Cross takes place.

According to tradition, Helena ordered the excavation of the site in Jerusalem where it was believed that Jesus had been crucified. She is said to have found three crosses buried there, along with the inscription "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews." To determine which cross was the True Cross, Helena is said to have brought a sick woman to touch each cross. The woman was miraculously healed upon touching the third cross, confirming its authenticity.

Inspired by this discovery, Helena ordered the construction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre at the site of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. This church has since become one of the most important and revered sites in Christianity.

Helena is also attributed with building other churches in the Holy Land, including the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and the Church of Eleona on the Mount of Olives.

Helena's devotion to Christianity and her contributions to the early church led to her veneration as a saint. Her feast day, known as the Feast of Saint Helena, is celebrated on August 18th in the Western Christian tradition. She is often depicted holding a cross, a symbol of her connection to the True Cross and her role in the Christianization of the Roman Empire.

It's important to note that while Helena's story is widely accepted within Christian tradition, some aspects of her biography may be embellished or based on legend. Nonetheless, her legacy as a devout Christian and her impact on the spread of Christianity are significant aspects of her historical and religious importance.

Saint Gaetano di Thiene: Pioneering Church Reform and Inspiring Spiritual Renewal



St. Gaetano di Thiene, also known as Saint Cajetan or Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene, was an Italian Catholic priest and religious reformer. He was born on October 1, 1480, in Vicenza, Italy, into an aristocratic family. He is best known as the founder of the Theatines, a religious order aimed at promoting reform within the Catholic Church and fostering a spirit of apostolic poverty and devotion.

Early Life and Education:

Gaetano came from a wealthy and influential family. He received an excellent education in the humanities and law, studying at the University of Padua.

Despite his education and the prospects of a prestigious career, Gaetano felt a strong call to dedicate his life to God and the service of the Church.

Religious Reformation and Founding of Theatines:

In the early 16th century, Gaetano became increasingly concerned about the moral and spiritual decline within the Church. He sought to address these issues through personal holiness and by encouraging the clergy to embrace a more fervent and apostolic way of life.

In 1524, Gaetano was ordained a priest and began to gather like-minded individuals who shared his vision of reform. These individuals included priests, laypeople, and even some members of the nobility.

In collaboration with his companions, Gaetano founded the Congregation of Clerics Regular of Divine Providence, commonly known as the Theatines, in 1524. The Theatines were dedicated to a life of poverty, apostolic work, and spiritual renewal.

Work and Legacy:

The Theatine Order emphasized a return to the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience, along with a commitment to prayer and pastoral ministry. They also sought to counteract the corruption and decadence that had become prevalent in the Church.

Gaetano's leadership and emphasis on humility, prayer, and self-sacrifice helped the Theatines grow and spread throughout Italy and beyond. He actively participated in preaching and providing spiritual guidance.

St. Gaetano's influence extended beyond his own order. He worked to support the efforts of other reformers, such as St. Charles Borromeo, and was recognized for his dedication to the renewal of the Church.

He passed away on August 7, 1547, in Naples, Italy. He was canonized as a saint by Pope Clement X in 1671.

St. Gaetano's contributions to the Catholic Church were significant, particularly in fostering a spirit of reform, apostolic poverty, and pastoral dedication. His Theatine Order continues to exist and contribute to the Church's mission to this day. St. Gaetano is often depicted in religious art wearing the habit of the Theatines, holding a crucifix, and being accompanied by a lily, symbolizing his purity and devotion.

Wara lin-nies kielu u xebgħu, Ġesù minnufih ġiegħel lid-dixxipli jitilgħu fuq id-dgħajsa u jmorru qablu x-xatt l-ieħor, sakemm jibgħat lin-nies. Wara li bagħat lin-nies, tela’ waħdu fuq l-għoljiet biex jitlob. Xħin sar filgħaxija kien għadu hemm fuq, waħdu.

Id-dgħajsa kienet diġa’ f’nofs il-baħar titħabat mal-mewġ, għax kellhom ir-riħ kontra tagħhom. Fir-raba’ sahra tal-lejl mar lejn in-naħa tagħhom miexi fuq il-baħar. Huma rawh miexi fuq il-baħar u twerwru. “Dan xi fantażma!”. qalu; u qabdu jgħajtu bil-biża’. Iżda hu minnufih kellimhom u qalilhom: “Agħmlu l-qalb, jien hu, tibżgħu xejn!”. Wieġeb Pietru u qallu: “Mulej, jekk huwa int, ordnali niġi ħdejk fuq l-ilma”. “Ejja”, qallu Ġesù. Pietru niżel mid-dgħajsa, u qabad jimxi fuq l-ilma u jersaq lejn Ġesù. Iżda meta ra li r-riħ kien qawwi, baża’, ħabat jegħreq, u beda jgħajjat u jgħid: “Salvani, Mulej!”. Malajr Ġesù medd idu u qabdu: “Bniedem ta’ fidi żgħira”, qallu, “għaliex iddubitajt?”.

Meta mbagħad it-tnejn telgħu fid-dgħajsa, ir-riħ waqaf. Dawk li kienu fid-dgħajsa nxteħtu jqimuh u qalulu: “Tassew, int Bin Alla!”.



Il-Ħadd li għadda rajna ‘l Ġesu’ jitma eluf ta’ nies, u jipproponilhom dinja ġdida fejn kulħadd se jkollu ikel biżżejjed biex jgħix.  Meta n-nies xebgħu, Ġesu’ “jġiegħel” lill-Appostli jmorru x-xatt l-ieħor.

Fil-lingwaġġ Evanġeliku, “ix-xatt l-ieħor” kien ifisser in-naħa tal-pagani. Il-Lhud ma kinux iħobbu jmorru hemm, għalhekk Ġesu’ kellu “jġiegħlhom”. Bagħthom waħedhom waqt li hu baqa’ waħdu jitlob. 

Kien ġa tard qabel ma temgħu n-nies, u issa kien wasal biex jidlam.  Il-Baħar (għadira) tal-Galilija mhux kbir ħafna, u wieħed seta’ jaqsam minn naħa għal oħra fi ftit ħin.  

Imma l-Appostli “kellhom ir-riħ kontrihom”. Ġesu’ bagħthom xorta waħda għax, wara li temagħhom bil-ħobż u qawwihom bil-proposta ta’ dinja ġdida, kellhom iwasslu din l-Aħbar Tajba lil kulħadd, anki lill-pagani.  Għax din l-Aħbar hija l-Kelma tal-Imgħallem. Kien hemm tnax-il qoffa, għax kull Appostlu dak in-nhar wassal lin-nies il-ħobż materjali flimkien mal-ħobż tal-ħajja. 

Biex ikomplu l-missjoni tagħhom, l-Appostli kellhom jitilgħu fuq id-dgħajsa, i.e. jagħmlu parti mill-Kommunita’ Nisranija – il-Knisja, fil-waqt li Ġesu’ jitla’fuq il-muntanja, i.e. jidħol fid-dinja tal-Missier Etern.

Dalam. Fuq id-dgħajsa għandna n-nuqqas tad-dawl tax-xemx, u n-nuqqas tal-preżenza ta’ Ġesu’. Meta jiġri hekk, ta’ spiss jinqala’ xi għawġ u jibdew jinbtu d-dubji.  Din tifforma parti mill-ħajja tagħna.  Id-dgħajsa kienet f’nofs ta’ baħar titħabat mal-mewġ.

Fil-lingwaġġ Bibliku, it-tempesta, l-aktar dik ta’ fuq il-baħar, hija xi ħaġa li twassal għall-mewt. Il-mewġ qalil ifisser kulma hu kuntrarju għall-ħajja.  Għalhekk il-Lhud, meta kienu jinqabdu fiha, kienu jitwerwru.  L-Appostli hawn jaqbadhom paniku kbir għax Ġesu’ ma kienx magħhom. Kull tant dan jiġri lilna, meta nħossu li Ġesu abbandunana, u arana nintlew bid-dubji. “Alla biss jista’ jimxi fuq il-mewġ tal-baħar” (Ġob). Niftakru li Alla wkoll fired il-Baħar l-Aħmar biex jaqsmu l-Lhud, għax Alla hu sid ukoll fuq il-mewġ, i.e. fuq il-forzi kollha li huma kontra l-ħajja.

Il-mewġ beda jħabbat id-dgħajsa ‘l hawn u ‘l hinn, u jgħaddiha mill-prova permezz ta’ ħafna diffikultajiet, għax did-dgħajsa sejra tħabbar dinja ġdida.

Ir-riħ kontra, huwa dawk li jridu jkomplu jgħixu ħajja tal-poter, l-egoiżmu, il-vjolenza, eċċ, se jagħmlu minn kollox biex did-dgħajsa ma taqdix il-missjoni tagħha. Kif l-Appostli beżgħu li dar-riħ kien qawwi wisq għalihom, se jgħarraqhom u hekk se tfalli l-missjoni tagħhom, hekk jiġrilna aħna kull tant. Niskuraġġjaw ruħna meta naraw tant affarijiet sejrin żmerċ.

Kif beda jbexbex, Ġesu’ jidher miexi fuq il-baħar. Billi Alla biss seta’ jimxi fuq il-baħar, u billi kienu għadhom ma għarfux eżatt liema kienet l-identita awtentika ta’ Ġesu, jiġifieri, li kien Alla, ħasbuh fantażma. Ġesu hu l-Iben t’Alla li ġie jgħammar fostna, imma dan l-Appostli jifhmuh wara l-Għid. 

Meta raw dil-“fantażma” l-Appostli twerwru u bdew jgħajtu. Ġesu’ jaċċertahom: “Tibżgħux. Jien Hu!” Din hi paġna tejoloġika. B’dan ir-rakkont, Mattew irid ipinġilna l-qagħda tal-ewwel komunitajiet Insara, li kienu mħabbtin u mħawdin b’ħafna dubji, diffikultajiet u affarijiet kontrihom. Kienu diżorjentati bil-fatt li Ġesu’ ma kienx fiżikament preżenti fosthom. Beda jonqoshom il-kuraġġ u s-sigurta’. 

Mattew irid jassigurahom li Ġesu xorta hu preżenti fosthom, imma mhux bħal meta kien qabel il-Passjoni.  Issa jinsab taħt forma differenti, il-forma ta’ wara l-Qawmien.  Mattew ma setax isib kelma biex jispjega dan l-istat glorjuż ta’ Ġesu.  Għalhekk, biex forsi dawn l-Insara jifhmuh ftit, juża l-kelma “fantażma”, li hi kelma pjuttost fqira biex tiddefinixxi sew “Kristu Rxoxt”.  Allura Ġesu jiċċara ma’ l-Appostli: “Le, m’inix fantażma. Huwa jien, imma taħt kundizzjoni differenti, i.e. kif se nkun wara li nqum mill-mewt.”

“Mulej, jekk huwa int, ordnali niġi ħdejk.” Pietru aċċetta l-Aħbar it-Tajba u l-proposta ġdida ta’ Ġesu għal dinja ġdida. Biex iwettaq din il-proposta, Pietru hemm bżonn li jmut għall-egoiżmu u s-suppervja tiegħu. Jasal ukoll biex jagħti ħajtu għall-Aħbar it-Tajba ta’ Ġesu’.

Ġesu’ jsejjaħlu ħdejh.  Dment li Pietru jsammar il-ħarsa tiegħu fuq Ġesu’, l-ebda mewġ, l-ebda riħ qawwi, l-ebda diffikulta’ u l-ebda tfixkil ieħor ma jżommu mill-mixja tiegħu lejn Ġesu’.  Iżda meta beda jħares kemm kienu qawwijin il-mewġ u  l-irwiefen kontrih,  u ma baqax iħares lejn wiċċ Kristu, bdew id-dubji, il-qtigħ il-qalb u l-biża’ tal-għarqa.  

Aħna għandna bżonn nagħmlu bħal Pietru u niffissaw il-ħarsa tagħna fuq il-wiċċ adorabbli ta’ Ġesu’, u b’hekk, l-ebda tentazzjoni, dubju u tfixkil ieħor ma jkun biżżejjed biex iwaqqafna fil-mixja tagħna lejn il-Mulej u s-Saltna Tiegħu.

Saint Dominic of Guzmán: Founder of the Dominicans and Champion of Faith

 



Birth and Family: Saint Dominic, also known as Dominic de Guzmán, was born in Caleruega, Old Castile (modern-day Spain) around 1170. He was born into a noble family, and his parents were Felix de Guzmán and Blessed Juana of Aza. He had two maternal uncles who were also canonized saints: Saint Augustin of Hippo and Saint Martin de Porres.

Education: Dominic received his early education in Palencia, Spain, where he studied grammar, rhetoric, and theology. He showed a strong inclination towards learning from a young age.

Conversion and Ministry: Saint Dominic dedicated his life to the Christian faith and was ordained as a priest. He became known for his dedication to prayer, penance, and acts of charity. Dominic's commitment to combating heresy and promoting the Catholic faith led him to found the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in 1216.

Founding the Dominican Order: The purpose of the Dominican Order was to spread the Gospel through preaching, teaching, and intellectual engagement. The order played a significant role in combating heresies of the time and promoting theological understanding and education.

Missionary Work: Saint Dominic travelled extensively, preaching across Europe to convert and inspire people to embrace the Catholic faith.

Influence and Legacy: Saint Dominic's efforts and teachings had a lasting impact on the Catholic Church and contributed to the intellectual and spiritual growth of the medieval world. The Dominican Order he founded continues to be active today, with members engaged in various forms of ministry, education, and scholarship.

Dan hu Ibni l-għażiż: isimgħu lilu! - Sudju Bibbliku Mt 17:1-9 - Festa tat-Trasfigurazzjoni tal-Mulej

 



Sitt ijiem wara, Ġesù ħa miegħu lil Pietru u ’l Ġakbu u ’l ħuh Ġwanni, tellagħhom fuq muntanja għolja weħidhom, u tbiddel quddiemhom. Wiċċu sar jiddi bħax-xemx, u lbiesu sar abjad bħad-dawl. U dehrulhom Mosè u Elija jitħaddtu miegħu. Qabeż Pietru u qal lil Ġesù: “Mulej, kemm hu sew li aħna hawn! Jekk trid intella’ hawn tliet tined, waħda għalik, waħda għal Mosè u waħda għal Elija.” Kif kien għadu jitkellem, sħaba kollha dawl għattiethom u minn ġos-sħaba nstema’ leħen jgħid: “Dan hu Ibni l-għażiż, li fih sibt l-għaxqa tiegħi; isimgħu lilu.” Id-dixxipli, kif semgħu dan, waqgħu wiċċhom fl-art, mimlijin biża’. Ġesù resaq lejhom, messhom u qalilhom: “Qumu. La tibżgħux.” Huma refgħu għajnejhom u ma raw lil ħadd ħlief lil Ġesù waħdu. Huma u neżlin minn fuq il-muntanja, Ġesù ordnalhom u qalilhom: “Tgħidu lil ħadd b’din id-dehra sa ma Bin il-bniedem ikun qam mill-imwiet.”


Il-Kelma tal-Mulej





Bil-Grieg tintuża l-kelma “metamorfosi” mhux trasfigurazzjoni. Aħna din nużawha meta dudu jsir farfett. Hawn min jitqażżeż meta jara ċertu dudu, imma jammirah meta jsir farfett sabiħ.

It-test jibda bil-kliem: “Sitt ijiem wara..” għax sitt ijiem qabel, f’Ċesareja Filippi, Ġesu staqsa lill-Appostli: “Min tgħidu li jien?” Pietru wieġbu: “Int il-Messija.”

Wara din l-istqarrija ta’ fidi, Ġesu ħabbrilhom li se jmur Ġerusalemm. U kellu jċanfar lil Pietru għax lumu, u għax b’raġunar bħal tal-bnedmin kien fi kliem ieħor qed jgħidlu: “Min jagħti ħajtu għall-oħrajn huwa fallut.”
Illum Ġesu ried juri lit-tlitt appostli li dak li f’għajnejn in-nies jidher ikrah u fallut, jista’ jkun sabiħ u ta’ suċċess. Riedhom jagħmlu esperjenza mill-viċin tal-wiċċ u tal-presenza tal-Missier. Illum qed jistieden lilna wkoll biex inħarsu lil hinn mill-bniedem fallut fuq is-salib u nagħmlu esperjenza tal-istess bniedem mibdul f’wieħed glorjuż u li jittrasmetti l-Wiċċ imdawwal tal-Missier Etern.Pietru, Ġwanni u Ġakbu magħżula llum u aktar tard fl-Ort tal-Ġetsemani.

“Fuq muntanja għolja”, - Il-post fejn wieħed jinqata’ mid-dinja u jagħmel kuntatt aktar mill-viċin m’Alla. Biex nagħmlu l-esperjenza tal-lum, anki aħna rridu ninqatgħu mill-istorbju tal-ħajja – hawn min jagħmel ħin ta’ talb fil-kwiet (quiet time) id-dar jew f’xi kappella. Hawn min kull tant imur f’xi dar tal-irtiri. Irridu ninqatgħu mhux biss mill-istorbju imma wkoll mir-raġunar u l-kriterji tad-dinja. F’dan is-silenzju, waqt ir-riflessjoni u l-meditazzjoni, il-Mulej se jtina l-grazzja li nagħmlu esperjenza tal-preżenza ta’ Kristu fil-glorja tiegħu, u nħossu l-ferħ li ħassew l-Appostli. Mose’ u Elija kienu ppreparaw il-poplu Lhudi għall-glorja t’Alla.

Mose’ darba staqsa lil Alla biex jara wiċċu. Alla qallu: “Ħa ngħaddi minn quddiemek imma se ngħattilek għajnejk. Wara li nkun għaddejt tista’ tiftaħ għajnejk u tara l-glorja tiegħi fl-opri li nkun wettaqt.”

Elija wkoll kien tela’ fuq muntanja (Ħoreb) biex ifittex lil Alla. Ma sabux fit-terrimot jew fit-tempesta, imma f’żiffa ħelwa, fil-vuċi tas-silenzju. Din kienet preparazzjoni għall-miġja ta’ Kristu li kellu juri lid-dinja id-dawl tal-Missier.

Pietru tant għoġbitu dix-xena li ried iwaqqaf l-arloġġ. “Intellgħu tliet tined”, i.e. “ħa nibqgħu hawn u nkomplu ngawdu dan il-wiċċ ġdid ta’ Kristu għal dejjem.” Mela jekk aħna nitilgħu il-muntanja (inħallu warajna l-kriterji u r-raġunar tal-bnedmin), aħna wkoll nibdew induqu dal-ferħ, għax naffaxxinaw ruħna meta naraw lil Kristu kif jaraH il-Missier.

Ġesu ħa t-tlitt Appostli għalihom, imma fuq l-għolja kienu ħaġa waħda – kommunita’. Aħna nitilgħu l-għolja kull darba li niltaqgħu bħala kommunita’ għat-talb u għall-qsim tal-Ewkaristija. Din għandha tkun ċelebrazzjoni ta’ ferħ kbir għax hemm kuljum nitgħallmu dejjem iżjed kif niċħdu l-kriterji u l-valuri tad-dinja u nħaddnu dawk tal-Kelma t’Alla.
Imma ma nistgħux nibqgħu fuq il-muntanja l-ħin kollu. Irridu nerġgħu lura fid-dinja biex inħajru lil ħutna iħaddnu dak li ksibna aħna.

“Sħaba mimlija dawl….” ma tantx tagħmel sens. Sħaba s-soltu ġġib id-dlam. Din tfisser li dment li għadna f’did-dinja qatt m’hu se naraw lil Alla kif inhu. Dejjem se jkun hemm mumenti ta’ dlam. ċpar, misteru.

Minn qalb is-sħaba toħroġ il-vuċi t’Alla: “Dan hu Ibni l-Għażiż….” Darb’oħra biss smajniha din il-vuċi: fil-magħmudija ta’ Ġesu. Dak in-nhar Ġesu ma deherx waqt li kien qed jagħmel il-mirakli, imma deher bħala midneb li kellu bżonn il-magħmudija ta’ Ġwanni.
Għalhekk il-Missier jikkonferma lin-nies: “Dan m’huwiex il-midneb li qed taraw intom, imma Ibni l-Għażiż.” 
Illum fuq it-Tabor il-Missier jerġa’ jikkonfermalna: “F’Ibni l-Għażiż għandkom taraw lili. Mela, isimgħu Lilu.” In-Nisrani jrid jisma’ lil Ġesu billi jaċċetta l-proposti tiegħu. In fatti it-tliet appostli li raw id-dija ħierġa mill-wiċċ Divin ta’ Ġesu, issa, għal dil-proposta, waqgħu wiċċhom fl-art bil-biża’. Kull tant il-proposti li jagħmlilna Ġesu m’humiex faċli. Anzi xi kull tant huma tal-biża’ għax huma mpenjattivi ħafna.

Għalhekk Ġesu resaq lejhom, messhom u qalilhom: “Qumu. La tibżgħux!” Fi żmien ta’ qtiegħ il-qalb, ejjew aħna wkoll nistħajlu lil Ġesu jgħidilna biex inqumu fuq saqajna u ma nibżgħux. Niftakru li kien hu li l-ewwel ta ħajtu għall-oħrajn.

“Huma refgħu għajnejhom u raw lil Ġesu biss.” Issa li għandna d-Dawl, ix-xogħol ta’ Mose u Elija intemm. L-espressjoni “refgħu għajnejhom” tħabbar li xi ħaġa sabiħa se tiġri dal-waqt. Eżempji: (a) Meta Alla qal lil Abram: “Erfa’ għajnejk u ara tistax tgħodd il-kwiekeb” – riżultat: Alla għamel patt mal-poplu Lhudi; (b) ..lil Mose: “Ħares lejn il-Lvant u l-Punent” – riżultat: Alla ta b’wirt l-Art Imwiegħda lill-poplu magħżul Tiegħu; (c) Meta Ġesu refa’ għajnejh lejn is-sema qabel xi miraklu; jew biex jara ‘l-Żakkew fis-siġra. Jekk għad hawn il-faqar u l-gwerer fid-dinja forsi għax mhux qed nerfgħu għajnejna lejn is-sema aktar ta’ spiss.

Wara din l-esperjenza, l-Appostli niżlu minn fuq il-muntanja, persważi li, biex jgħinu lill-oħrajn jiskopru il-vera identita’ ta’ Kristu, kien meħtieġ li jservuhom. Aħna għandna bżonn nagħmlu l-istess.
